Definition of good music comes in different words. Established in 2015 by an underground duo from South Africa; M21 & Khirbet Qeiyafa, Far Yards Records becomes a powerhouse of its own kind. The formation of the label dates back to years of releases and finally the duo deciding to launch something that pretty much explains what they’re made of. Not only did the intention aim at raw underground music in general, but to also shape the direction of raw music in South Africa.
Far Yards is most known for Acid Jazz, Deep House, Minimal and Left field Chillout Music. Inspiration comes from labels like Bedouin Records, Tartalet, Odd Socks, Money $ex Records, Tsuba, Dantze Baby!, Couch Records, Room With A View, Left of Dial, Boutade Music and much more underground labels.
Its well known to dish out songs of long lengths, simple and weird album arts bearing the faded FAR Catalogue number with less artistic effects. The reason remaining simple and onponit, Far Yards imprints its music on old signatures from the old beginning era of music. Signatures of Garage House, Sounds of Kev Brown, Uforscene, J Dilla, 9th Wonder, Justice League, Jazzonova, Larry Heard, Lil Louis etc all have an effect and influence on Far Yards signature.
As of 2015, Far Yards houses the music of M21 & Khirbet Qeiyafa and Feloque from South Africa, and keeps to remain exclusive enough with releases formats of MP3/WAV/AAC/MP4 and 33/45 12″ hard wax vinyl. Apart from Metadata Releases, Far Yards is active in an podcast profile : TruEaSoul with South African listener and TruEaSoul founder : S’celo Madonsela where every month a podcats of raw music is shared online with friends and available as online stream.
Far Yards is a supporter of Anti-Piracy programmes/agencies and as of 2015 signed a petition to have Pirated Music stopped.
